How we felt about winning Commended Award for Best New Start Up 2013
At the time of winning the Commended award for Best New Start Up at The Richmond Business Awards, LSW had been trading for just over 12 months. At this point, we had already achieved everything that was set out in our 3-year plan and surpassed every target we had given ourselves. Winning a Richmond Business Award was just the cherry on top of the cake – something that came as a complete surprise and made all of our hard work totally worthwhile. We felt very honoured to be given this award, and to also receive such wonderful support and feedback from the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. We could not be more thrilled to be recognised as one of the newest up-and-coming businesses in the Richmond Borough, and winning this award has certainly been the perfect way to start our second year of business.
What will the award do for us?

As with every new company, the challenges we faced in our first year were vast, and our future was uncertain, but winning this award was an immense achievement and we could not be more pleased to be recognised for our hard work and dedication to children’s education. We hope this award goes some way to proving how dedicated we are to help improve literacy rates in the Richmond Borough, and that it helps us to continue growing as a successful and professional business.
What next?

2014 at Little Star Writing is set to be a very exciting year. Not only are we launching more workshops across the UK, we have also been asked to take LSW overseas – starting off with some Storytelling Seminars in Cyprus. As well as this, we are in the process of organising the very first Little Star Writing Festival – Surrey’s first children’s literature festival that introduces children to the rewarding nature of Creative Writing. This event is due to take place at Richmond Theatre in July 2014 – something that actually came about after meeting Richmond Theatre award winners at the Richmond Business Awards 2013!
